Upgrading an older Control4 system usually starts with an assessment of the processor, the remotes or touchscreens, and the devices already connected to it — lighting, shading, audio and video, and security. From there, the processor and software are brought current, and the programming that drives scenes, keypads, and the app is rebuilt around how the household actually uses the home today.
Because Control4 systems are built around a processor and a network rather than a single device, much of an upgrade happens behind the scenes. Wiring, speakers, shades, and other hardware already in place can often stay; what changes is the processor generation, the software running it, and the programming tying it all together.
A Control4 system does not have to have been installed by RND for RND to work on it. We can assess a system another company installed — what processor and devices are on site, what is still supported, and what the household wants the system to do — and reprogram it from there.
Common signs are a remote or app that has stopped receiving updates, a processor model Control4 no longer sells, or scenes and keypads that used to work reliably and now do not. An assessment of the processor, the app version, and the devices on the system will tell you whether it needs an upgrade or just a service visit.
Yes. RND can assess a system installed by another company and reprogram it. The assessment covers what hardware is on site, what is still supported, and what the household actually wants the system to do before any reprogramming starts.
Not necessarily. Much of an upgrade is reprogramming and updating the processor and software behind the scenes. Some older components may need replacing if they are no longer supported, but wiring, speakers, and other hardware already in the walls are often reused.
